Yep, it’s that time again on Bali that even the airport is closed for the day: Nyepi.
New Ogah Ogahs are being build in the Banyars to be carried around the streets the day before Nyepi, 15th March and shown off by their proud builders, young and old.
It is always such a great spectacular to watch.
So if you happen to be on Bali mid March, make your way down to the next crossing of your hotel/villa and watch the show. Or just follow the crowd.
Then enjoy a day of peace.
The only day of the year when even the Bali dogs seam know to be quiet to fool the nasty ghosts!!
Ach, what bliss!!
And just think about how much electricity is saved that day!!!
Selamat Hari Nyepi!!

Hi there.
Settled nicely into 2010 by now?
Well, we had a very cold start to the year since I took my little one to Germany due to my mum being sick.
Man, it was cold!
-10 when we arrived and we just made it out of there before the next cold-spell with minus 14 and flights being cancelled due to ice on the runway.
As it was, we watched some poor soul out there on a cherry picker with a high pressure hose defrosting the wings!!!
Anyway back on Bali and life is god.
Just heard of a new service in Melbourne : Little Eats.
Jemma, mother of one and expecting again, started a service looking for and reviewing kids friendly Cafes and Restaurant!!
I wish they had that when I had my kids in Sydney!!
Lots of other very useful information as well, check it out :
http://www.littleeats.com.au/
Well done Jemma.
Also, Nyepi falls on the 16th March this year so plan ahead.
Cheers, the team from Bali Baby

Hot enough for you?
Bali Baby Equipment Hire recommends to get a refreshing ice tea at The Vienna Cafe.
A little touch of Europe in the heart of Seminyak.
A stylish, family friendly Cafe with a little courtyard away from the street for the little ones to play!!
Austrian owner Elisabeth and her mum Waltraud will spoil you with an Austrian cuisine to die for. Try the Strudel or the Dumplings.
Open for breakfast with freshly baked rolls on the premises, or sweet treats after a delicious lunch, this is definitely the favorite place to be!!

Next week, 14th October, the island of Bali will be celebrating the Hindu celebration of Galungan.
Galungan is a Balinese holiday that occurs every 210 days and lasts for 10 days. Kuningan is the last day of the holiday. Galungan means “When the Dharma is winning.” During this holiday the Balinese Gods visit the Earth and leave on Kuningan.
Occurring once in every 210 days in the Pawukon (Balinese cycle of days), Galungan marks the beginning of the most important recurring religious ceremony that is celebrated by all Balinese. During the Galungan period the deified ancestors of the family descend to their former homes. They must be suitably entertained and welcomed, and prayers and offerings must be made for them.
The team from Bali Baby equipment hire wishes the Hindu community a Selamat Hari Galungan dan Kuningan!!

The team from Bali Baby wishes to express their deepest sympathy for the victims and all effected by the earth quake in West Sumatra and the Tsunami in Samoa.
So when you see guys with cardboard boxes collecting money at the “Circle of Confusion” or any other spot, give generously.
Or maybe drop spare blankets or clothes at your local Banyar.
This could happen to any of us, anywhere.
