Indonesian Independent Day

I can not believe it is a year and a half ago that we packed up in Sydney, Australia and moved the family to Bali.
Time flies.

The kids have truly settled in the Australian International School and I am busy with Bali Baby Equipment Hire.

And just like one year ago the Indonesian Independent day is here again.
A proud day for all Indonesians.
The Japanese invasion and subsequent occupation during WWII ended Dutch rule, and encouraged the previously suppressed Indonesian independence movement. Two days after the surrender of Japan in August 1945, nationalist leader, Sukarno, declared independence and was appointed president. The Netherlands tried to reestablish their rule, but a bitter armed and diplomatic struggle ended in December 1949, when in the face of international pressure, the Dutch formally recognized Indonesian independence.

The kids will celebrate at school on Friday the 15th August with lots of fun activities and a lot of them will be wearing their traditional costumes.
Check out AIS Bali for photos and information.

Two days after The Independent Day I another festival:
Galungan.
Check out Wickipedia:

Also worth checking out is the Baliforkids.com site. Always lots of info of what to do and where to go with the little ones!!
