Galungan is a Balinese holiday that occurs every 210 days and lasts for 10 days. Kuningan is the last day of the holiday. During this holiday the Balinese Gods visit the Earth and leave on Kuningan.
Galungan marks the beginning of the most important recurring religious ceremony that is celebrated by all Balinese. During the Galungan period the deified ancestors of the family descend to their former homes. They must be suitably entertained and welcomed, and prayers and offerings must be made for them. Those families who have ancestors that have not yet been cremated, but are still buried in the village cemetery, must make offerings at the graves.
As well as the family temple, visits are made to the village temple with offerings as well, and to the homes of other families who may have helped the family in some way over the past six months.
If you are here on holiday during this time, you are sure to see parades of Balinese dressed up in their beautiful ceremonial clothes. Keep your camera on you at all times for some fabulous photo opportunities!!

Support Robin Lim in her quest to raise funds for the the Bumi Sehat foundation, to build more clinics for woman to give gentle birth to their babies and be cared for with love, the right equipment and under human conditions!!
In the first 8 months of 2011 alone, the Bumi Sehat foundation, set up by CNN Hero Robin Lim in Indonesia, has provided compassionate pre and post natal care for 20,500 mothers, as well as delivered 400 babies.
Every 15 minutes around the world, 23 babies die during birth, 28 are stillborn, and 86 infants under 1 month old die of various causes. She also reminds us that there are many mothers who die in childbirth.

…must be The Cubby House at The Semara in Petintenget!!
A brand new resort offering the ultimate in kid’s clubs experience on the island.
Of course, we haven’t see them all, but from what we have seen, this is the biggest one so far.
(And the beauty is: it is open to everybody, not just the guests at the resort (who do get a free session a day)
For IDR 100.000 your little ones (2-12) can spend 90 min in the house.
(Parents not allowed!!)
Our 9 year old son loved it!!
From Bey blade city to Lego Land to cinemas 1 and 2!!
There is an Art corner, PS3’s, 5 APPLE MAC computers, plus a safe play area for the really young ones.
You can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at the Semara restaurant or just cross the street and enjoy The Biku Tea House experience while your kids are well looked after.
(Don’t forget to pop your head into Namu across from Biku for the latest in Italian fashion, made on Bali, designed by Paola!!)
Open from 7am to 10pm the team from Bali Baby gives it the thumbs up!!
